Introduction
I wrote this piece as a companion to my new E-book ‘How To Make Your Own Altar In 10 Simple Steps. Which is a valuable guide to anyone starting their spiritual practice.
Spirituality is best practiced when there is freedom to explore the unknown, the more you learn the more you will understand.
Your spirituality is a journey of self-discovery , it should be taken on with an open mind and eager spirit.
There is no one or wrong way to practice. It is totally up to you, and your divine energy from within. A spiritual path will help you discover your true destiny and will help you heal yourself. The more you practice the stronger your connection with be to the divine.
An altar is your very first step to personalizing your spiritual experience.

Step 1: Altar Theme
Your altar theme should represent what you believe in. It should reflect your spirituality and who or what you honor or homage to. If you choose a god, goddess, or other deities, you will need to do your research. Read about the time period they were first worshipped in, learn about their story, and their trials and tribulations. You must also learn about what their taste is, and the best way to give offerings or honor them.
Step 2: Gather Your Materials
You will need to collect or buy figurines, crystals, incense, candles, and other items such as plants or fresh flowers. You will need to buy divination items to communicate with your altar such as oracle or tarot cards. You will need an altar cloth, crystal grid, and glasses for water/wine.

Step 3: Set-up and Decorate
How you set up your altar will be based on your own personal taste and ideas. Nothing has to be set in any specific kind of way. The only things I would suggest is to incorporate the elements of water, air, fire, and earth.
Step 4: Organize Your Space
You will need shelving and other benches or containers to keep all of your spiritual tools you need to keep your altar alive and flourishing, on hand and organized. You should always be able to see the things you have, that way you will always know if you run out of something. Keeping everything organized will also keep the energy flowing around your spiritual tools for the most effective manifesting.

Step 5: Keeping Your Altar Alive
To keep your altar alive and energized you must make a ritual out of practice. You will need to burn incense and herbs. Smudge the area. Water your plants and change the water in your flower vase. You will need to burn candles, charge your crystals, and meditate near the space. To keep your altar alive and to keep the divine energy continuously flowing.
Step 6: Divination
You will need some sort of divination to communicate with your altar gods, goddesses, or deities. My favorite form of communication are tarot or oracle cards. I have several different decks and I used them all at the same time, one after the other.

Step 7 : Your Practice Your Way
There is no set of rules to practicing your spirituality and working with your altar. Only do what makes you comfortable, you will step outside of your comfort zone when you are ready. You decide how and when you do things, your altar space is for you to manifest the things you need and desire out of life. You do not have to follow anything anyone else is doing, is all up to you. Let your divine spirit be your guide.
Step 8: Using Your Altar
Your altar space should be the end all to all of your practices and rituals. Whatever kind of magick you choose to do, it should end with your altar. If you are using candles, let it burn out on your altar. If you are using sigils, place them on your altar after you have set the intention.
Step 9: Your Altar Aesthetics
Your altar space should match the season, and match whatever is current in your life. It can also reflect whatever it is you are trying to manifest. You can use colors, objects, nature, or herbs to represent whatever is going on in the present. Your altar should change according to how your life changes every so often.

Step 10: Raising Your Vibration Energy
There are many ways to raise your vibration energy to have a better experience working with your altar. Writing and journaling your desires and wishes are a great way to start. Drinking plenty of water, tea, and eating lots of fruits and veggies will help as well. Working out and taking care of your body will help raise that good loving energy you need to manifest. Connecting with nature is also a very good way to keep that energy charged up.
