During these very scary and tumultuous times, it’s easy to let negative energy affect your daily life. The topics I will cover in this post will be:
- Self Care/Love

Upon exploring all these topics, you will be able to put these practices and tips to use. and help yourself heal from the negativity. You will also be able to create balance in your entire being, mind, body, and spirit. You will be back on the path to a higher purpose and higher consciousness. We cannot shield ourselves from the ugliness the word brings, but we can learn how to process and let it all go.
I used to be very susceptible to negative energy, it would often affect my work and relationships. Until I learned how to accept things that I could not change and maintain my positivity. Creating a balance or indifference to outer chaos can be easy if you keep in mind all the ways you can center yourself, and bring peace to your mind and spirit.
The best time to meditate is anytime! The best time to start is in the morning. Upon waking up, clear your mind by visualizing all of your scattered thoughts into one big pile. Then visualize you taking that pile and turning it to a color. Don’t force it, just let whatever color your mind presents be. Once you have turned your pile into a color, then visualize another lighter color that will represent a clear clutter free mind. Now that you have a blank canvas to work with. Focus on your breathing, and visualize your feet planted firmly on any ground. Let your mind take you to wherever it wants, and when the time is right, visualize a beam up light traveling up from your toes to the top of your head, washing your aura with positivity.
Reflect on the things that bring you happiness and joy. Reflect on things you are grateful and thankful for. Spend time reflecting on all of the things you are proud of yourself for accomplishing. Nearing the end, take your mind to what you wish to accomplish for the day.
If you have trouble clearing your mind, trying going on Youtube and searching for guided meditations or any type of binaural beats to help you rest your mind. Spend a few minutes just focusing on your breathing, the music, and the spoken mantras. After a while, you should be able to clear your mind well enough to do the exercise mentioned above.
Self-care and self-love are very broad terms because there are so many different elements to both. The main objective paying attention to your individual needs, emotions, and well being. There are so many ways to care for yourself and show yourself, love, I could literally go on for days. Instead, I have put together a list of ways to love and care for yourself.
- Stop overthinking
- Drink warm water first thing in the morning, add a key lime if you like
- Exercise or do some yoga in the morning
- Drink more water
- Do breathing exercises
- Eat healthier
- Take care of your skin, try skin brushing and use a body scrub to exfoliate
- Take a detox bath
- Give yourself a manicure/pedicure
- Give yourself a new hairstyle
- Spend time with loved ones
- Mirror people who inspire you
- Start a gratitude journal
These are all fabulous ways to start your self-care/ self-love routine. It’s important to also be very mindful and present while you are doing any of these activities. Give yourself attention. Unplug from your phone and social media. Put on some uptempo music and zone out for a moment while recharging your batteries which will uplift your spirit. You will feel refresh and renewed as you wash away stagnate and negative energy.
You have to learn that in the midst of any situation, no one is more important than you. If you are not whole, balanced, and grounded, you can be of no service to anyone in a positive capacity. People tend to take on problems in their surroundings or worry about things out of there control as if those things take precedence in their life.
It’s ok to have empathy or be concerned about a situation at the moment, but we must learn how to leave those feelings in the moments. We must learn how to do what we can do and leave the rest up to the universe to guide us.
An affirmation is a positive statement to yourself, that you have to say over and over again until you believe it. You can write them down in a journal, and repeat them whenever you need a boost of assurance or confidence in yourself. You can create a vision board, with positive statements and goals you would like to achieve. You can create mental pictures in your mind, and recall these visions while you are showering or taking a walk outside to help you keep your focus and intentions on your goals and the life you want to create for yourself.
Chakras are points in the human body that represents spiritual energy. There are seven Chakras which represent 7 different aspects of our human bodies. Each chakra represents something different. When one or all of your chakras are open, you will promote balance and grounding in your mind, body, and spirit. When one or all of your chakras are blocked, it may cause imbalance or chaos within your mind, body, and spirit.
Root Chakra– represents our foundation, sits at the base of the spine and when opened we feel grounded and confident. When closed, we feel threatened and unstable.
Sacral Chakra– Represents emotions of ourselves and others, including creative and sexual energy. When blocked you will feel out of control, when opened you feel fulfilled with pleasure and abundance
Solar Plexus Chakra-Confidence and self-assurance, when open you express your true self, when closed you feel self-doubt and shame.
Heart Chakra-The ability to give and receive love for ourselves and others, when open you will receive deep love and empathy, when closed you will have a hard time showing your emotions to others.
Throat Chakra-Communication-When open you can express yourself freely when close you have a hard time finding the right words to explain yourself.
Third-Eye Chakra-Intuition When open you will receive visions from the divine universe, when close you are disconnected from the divine universe and will have a hard time receiving your messages and trusting your intuition
Crown Chakra– Represents a higher consciousness with the divine universe, when open, when close you will feel disconnected from your higher power.
Now that we have covered what chakras are, we can explore the amazing ways to open them up, to balance and ground ourselves. We can perform certain practices and activities to balance our chakras and help our spiritual energies flow positively with chaos and negative energy. Here are all the ways to open up our chakras, and also chakra affirmations to repeat and give our spiritual energies a boost whenever we feel down or hopeless.
How to ground and balance you chakras
Root Chakra– Invision the color red, dance, sing, do yoga, shower, go for a walk, get a pedicure.
Sacral Chakra– Bodyweight exercises, visualize orange, let go.
Solar Plexus Chakra-Engage core muscles, learn to stop judging yourself, speak positive mantras
Heart Chakra-Write a love letter to yourself, volunteer, or attend a church service.
Throat Chakra-Share your goals and dreams, practice speaking positive mantras.
Third- Eye Chakra-Get to know yourself and become honest about your flaws, forgive yourself, make a dream journal.
Crown Chakra-Keep track of sleep cycles, go to bed earlier and wake up at sunrise. Keep track of menstrual cycles, and moon phases. Ask the universe the right questions about your purpose, meditate, and write down any messages you receive. Spend time outdoors, try to catch sunrises/sunsets, stargaze, watch the ocean, volunteer, or be of service to others.
Root Chakra-I am grounded and connected to the earth
Sacral Chakra-I am kind, compassionate, I feel good about myself and I can express myself positively
Solar Plexus-I am connected to a greater life and I value myself
Heart Chakra-I know everything is connected, I accept myself and others as we are, I am open to healthy relationships
Throat Chakra-I can say no when I have to, I will think before I speak, I listen to my intuition
Third-eye Chakra– I use my intuition wisely, all that I need is within me, I see the divine light in everyone, I am open to receiving abundance and all of the greatest gifts from the universe.
Crown Chakra– I have everything I need, I love and trust myself, I forgive myself and others, I am peaceful, tranquil, and serene. I am not fearful of those around me, I am grounded to the earth and connected to the heavens, I understand deeper truth and connection
If you pay attention to new social media trends them I am sure you have heard of the term “Slow Living”. Which basically means taking time to enjoy and making the time to enjoy simple things that most busy people take for granted. Slow living could mean cooking or grilling in your backyard instead of eating out. It could mean watching an old movie with a loved one without your phone. There are many ways to practice living slowly. Here is a list of some of my favorite things to do to practice slow living.
- Daily nature walk
- Being present for every task
- No multitasking
- Going tech/TV free
- Being grateful
- Waking up early
- Night/morning routine
- Deep breathing
- Tidying up
- Eating Outside
- Taking a nap
- Taking afternoon tea
- Going device or screen-free before bed
Pronounced Hoo-gah, the definition of Hygee is well being and it comes from Denmark. The practice of Hygee is all about comfort and coziness. It is a Danish practice that boasts the world’s happiest people. Honestly, everything in this post up until this point can actually be considered practicing Hygee. To elaborate, Hygee is about having a clean, organized, and cozy space. It could be your bedroom, your outdoor porch, or just a chaise lounge by the window, with you favorite book, a cup of tea, fuzzy slippers and a warm blanket.
You can also Hygge up the back of a van and watch the ocean, or lay a blanket out in the grass with a picnic basket. You can have a game night with friends and have them all pitch in to help you cook. You can declutter your closet and donate anything you are not using. Organizing, decluttering, and getting rid of anything that does not serve you any purpose, are also ways to practice Hygee. Connecting with the outdoors is very important, paying attention to the sun, the wind, and the birds chirping are wonderful ways to practice Hygee and balance your spirit.
7.Spending Time Outdoors
I know I must have reference spending time outside a few times already, but that is because there is nothing more important a person can do, then connect with nature. Some people get up, go to work, come home, and repeat. They only go outside to work, run errands, and hang out with friends. There are so many ways you can take time to appreciate the great outdoors. below is a list of my favorite outdoor activities.
- Outdoor yoga
- Nature walks
- Tree hugging
- Picnic at the park
- Walk on the beach/watch the ocean waves
- Sit by a lake
- Walking tour of your neighborhood
- Window shopping
- Backyard BBQ
- Sunbathing on your lawn
- Watching a sunrise/sunset
- Talking your dog for a long walk
- Going on a bike ride
- Walking to a local shop instead of driving
There is nothing more pleasing to your soul than to connect with nature and the outdoors. Being outside in the fresh air will definitely help ground and balance all of your energies, that have been impacted negatively, by the woes of the world. Absolutely nothing will revive and refresh you more than simply going outside, just to be present under the sun, or the moon and the stars. Making a daily habit of spending time outdoors will do wonders for your mind, body, and spirit well being.
8. Take A Break From Social Media/Tv
Before you raise that eyebrow, just hear me out. Taking a break from screens and social media can give your subconscious mind a much-needed rest. It can also help with anxiety and help you sleep better. Instead of being joined at the hip to your device, or having the tv constantly on, play your favorite music in the house, while you complete your task. leave your device charging far away from your so you are not tempted to interrupt your sleep to check your phone. Wake up earlier so you can start your day tech-free, and plan your day while you drink your coffee. Give yourself a cut off time at night to be without your device and let your tribe know that after a certain hour you will have to return calls and messages the next morning. It will be hard at first, but any practice can become a habit with consistency.
We live in a world where all sorts of chaos erupts. Although, we cannot run and hide from those things that worry us, make us angry, anxious, or stressed. We can sure disconnect from those negative frequencies and ground ourselves to have balance within our own personal spiritual energies. We have the power to turn any negative situation positive by working on ourselves, paying attention to what we need, being grateful, and present in every moment.
